This specification is designed for students’ whose first language is Arabic. It is focused on reading, understanding, and responding in written form in response to a variety of sources. This syllabus is assessed through two written papers.
Paper 1 is divided into three sections, the first is reading with short-answer questions based on a reading passage. The second section is a writing section. Students are required to read a short text and summarize it, as well as write a piece of directed writing. The third section is a series of exercises on grammatical use. This paper is worth 70% of the total grade.
Paper 2 is a writing paper where students are required to write two compositions. This paper is worth 30% of the total grade.
